The album begins in an inquisitive manner, having an arresting touch of Jazz and silky voice of Anand Aravindakshan. The track has a groovy dimension to it and the lyrics follow in a story telling fashion. This is perhaps the first time Shreya Ghoshal- a sophisticated singer is attempting to render a raw folk number and she succeeds with flying colors. Imman touches many genres such as Spanish Rumba, Country, Modern Jazz, Symphony topped with local flavors in breathtaking ease. A musically compelling treat!
Singers: Santosh Hariharan
Lyrics: Madan Karky
Imman takes the listener on a racy bike ride with this eerie number supported well by thumping rhythm and amazing bass guitar. Santhosh Hariharan renders the tune with supreme confidence and mastery. Here is a James Bond from Tamil Nadu musically presented in style by Imman- which happened never before! One will be surprised to find Indian musical instruments like Sitar and Mrudangam effortlessly fusing in this mélange.
Pathu Endrathukulla (Male)
Singers: Emcee Jesz, Vishal Dadlani
Lyrics: Emcee Jesz, Mani Amudhavan
Experimentation gets a new dimension further when the sequencing sounds like a motorcycle ride in a convincing manner. Vishal Dadlani’s urbane voice is a perfect fit for this contemporary chase genre composition. The live drumming and freaky electric guitars are like a detour to Classic Rock of the 80s but just when that is assumed, a layer of Hip-Hop chorus arrives from nowhere! Watch out for the mesmerizing electric guitar solo in the first interlude- which defines the soul of the album.
Aanaalum Indha Mayakkam
Singers: Sathya Prakash
Lyrics: Jyothiraj, Mani Amudhavan
Just like a beautiful rural stop during a highway ride, a lovely solo arrives in such a brilliant ease. Supported by delicate Kanjira strokes, sweet sounding flute and mild string section, Satya Prakash excels in this honey dipped composition. The solo humming gives the track a wonderful nativity which is continued with velvety interludes. Imman sticks to his love for Indian Classical by composing this track loosely based on Carnatic Raaga Harikambhoji- a favorite for every folk genre!
Pathu Endrathukulla (Female)
Singers: Vaikom Vijayalakshmi
Lyrics: Mani Amudhavan
The raciest track of the album gets a different treatment from the season’s favorite vocalist Vaikom Vijayalakshmi. While the first version focused on Classic Rock, this version gives its tribute to Hip-Hop beats, addictive Trance and House mix riffs. A totally new perspective of a trendy track is a brilliant treat for the ears!
A thoroughly impressive theme track laden with a plethora of World musical instruments such as Pan Flute, Djembe, sounds of conch and Far East flute give a global feel. The track progresses as if to climb the ladder of destination. Imman experiments on the senses by usage of various percussion instruments in a timely manner and laced with laid back strings.
Verdict: 10 Endrathukulla is a fun listen!
